...revamping...

so...about six months ago my best friend (mamie craig) & i started an etsy shop called "frolic & frills." it was fillled with fun, whimsical headbands for little girls. for two months, headbands kind of became our life. once school finals kicked in, we got a pinch overwhelmed and put etsy on hold for a while. now...we're taking a step back & looking at what direction we want our little company to go in, and we're finding it's a totally new direction.

we plan to spend the last months of summer planning planning planning & then launch a totally new idea by fall- we hope. we've got lots of secret projects we need to get a move on & then focus in on advertising & getting our name out there & finding people that support what we're about. it's a little nerve-wracking to dive into, but i also couldn't be more thrilled...five years ago, if someone would have told me i would be doing this in 2010, i would've completely flipped. i've wanted to do things like this for so long, it's such a thrill that it's starting to work out for me now. it's a dream...and my dream needs a good dose of really hard work out of me- which i am very ready to give in this season of my life. i'm crossing my fingers & starting a whole new season of revamping, reorganizing, recreating, and refocusing & hoping that it all pays off....

below are pictures of a bunch of headbands we've made. soon i'll make a post of some of the headbands we've sold that i loved. anyways, enjoy!

* little miss darling (baby sized- we have a small line of baby headbands, but this is the only baby picture posted)
* puppy love
* xoxo
* mermaid's tail (i am in LOVE with this chunky metallic turquoise rick rack...this is one of the headbands i'm always tempted to steal from our stash & wear out myself.)
* valentine's day parade
* chocolate kisses
* queen of hearts
* you are my sunshine
* fairy in the woods
* eloise
* polka dot paris
*elephant love medley
* tea party pink
* minnie mouse
* penelope's bloom* toile cheer (you can't see in the picture, but the rest of the headband is wrapped in this gorgeous pink toile ribbon.)

recent crafting...

i have been SWOONING over this dress on my favorite new wedding blog "frolic"...prom, please?

ive been taking an online art class from "red velvet art" & its been super fun. here are some of the fun little things ive been working on...

*tee shirt chandelier* (turned out kinda quirky, but i like it & its hanging above my desk in my room)

*summer log book/journal* (this one was painful to make but i am so enjoying it. i am documenting a bullet point list of what i do everyday of the summer because i know it will to so fun to look back on...especially in the dragging winter months ; ) )

*ruffle tank* (i made two, and my favorite one was in the wash, so no pictures yet!)

*(and of course) an impromptu headband [[from leftover scraps]]*
some extra happies just for inspiration...
l-o-v-e this idea for wedding portraits...so fun & whimsical! who needs stuffy black & white chapel photos when you could keep this on your coffee table?

pretty findings

the cutest beverage dispenser i've ever laid my eyes on...from the two's company for a hefty $180.00
this simply splendid (and cheap!) pillow that i am ordering two of to freshen up my room. $19.15...can you believe it?

love these adorable bakery bags and boxes by http://layercakeshop.com/ i might just have to order some to wrap up yummies that i bake this summer.

i absolutely ADORE this fabric by anna maria horner. and generally anything by anna maria horner http://www.annamariahorner.com/index.html. too bad it is wildly expensive at my favorite fabric store. however, tonight i found out she just so happens to live (and i think own a store) literally minutes from my house! so i think i will take a trip there hopefully next week. thats just grand!

spending a week at the beach...have fallen in love with the "country living" magazine...and my grandmother has promised to buy me a sewing machine (what a lovely and gracious surprise!!) now i will have to sew a ruffle on just about everything ; ) xo. -k
